Junior Membership

There is no constitutional provision for Junior (aged 7 & Under) Membership in the Exeter (Summerway) Junior Lawn Tennis Club. The Club exists to promote Tennis activities for youngsters from their eighth to eighteenth years. The Management Committee recognises that players are becoming involved in the game at an earlier age and need an environment in which to develop. The Committee also considers it inappropriate to recommend a lowering of the minimum age in view of the Club’s popularity, stretched coaching resources and other significant considerations. Please note, therefore, that Junior Membership is a compromise which is strictly limited, and may be withdrawn in individual cases where it is seen to be damaging to the best interests of the Club in the opinion of the Committee. The number of Junior Memberships currently being offered is restricted to a maximum of six - three boys and three girls.

The following points indicate the current basis of Junior Membership, which will be confirmed, varied, extended or withdrawn in the light of experience:

Þ Junior Membership is provisional and not an unqualified right.

Þ The fees payable shall be those for the current playing membership, together with any discounts or concessions which may be applicable.

Þ Provided that they have no children in the current playing membership, Parents of Junior Members will NOT be expected to participate in the Supervision Rota. Inclusion in the Rota will occur as a matter of course when a Junior enters his/her eighth year of age and passes into the Playing Membership.

Þ Acceptance into the Playing Membership is assured, on payment of any normal renewal fees which may be due, provided that the Club Rules have been observed during Junior Membership and the Committee have no disciplinary grounds for objection.
