Sets of Club Keys

It is Club policy to allow each family to hold a set of keys if they so wish. These keys are the responsibility of the Adult Members only, and must never be available to any of the Playing Membership for the purpose of using the premises unsupervised. Sets of keys are on loan to the families of Playing Members and must be returned to the Membership Secretary when no one in the family remains in active membership. Any deposit will be duly refunded.

Each set of keys consists of a key to the Clubhouse, a key for all padlocks, an engraved identity tag and a one and a half inch diameter key ring.

New families to the Club are sent a pack of information on joining which includes a yellow form for obtaining keys. When the form is returned to the Membership Secretary with the appropriate fee, currently £4.00, a set of keys will be allocated and be ready for collection from the day following receipt of the application.

For safety reasons and so that everybody knows where to find them, the padlocks to the entrance gate and the gate to the field must be hung on the hooks above the verandah steps behind the Summerway name board when the gates are unlocked. This procedure does not apply to the padlock and chain securing the gate to the courts.

In the unfortunate event of a family losing their set of keys, a second set may be permitted on completion of a tangerine coloured form (available from the Membership Secretary) and payment of an enhanced fee, currently £5.00.

Clearly, the security of the Club depends on the sound management of keys. Those to whom they are loaned should not leave them in the padlocks or lying around in the Clubhouse. They have been known to go missing under such circumstances!
