The Supervision Rota

The Supervision Rota, sometimes referred to as the Duty Rota, is an essential part of the Club’s administration. It is so important that juniors, for whom the Club exists, cannot enrol as playing members without the participation of the adults of their families in Rota Duty. This is hardly an onerous requirement as each family is allocated only three or four sessions each season (April to September inclusive). There is flexibility also for each family to select which duties they can do, which duties they prefer and those duties which they would find most difficult. Notified holidays are also taken into account.

Each Rota, covering a six week period throughout the summer season, is published seven to fourteen days prior to the period to which it applies. The Club activities (e.g. Coaching, Summer Sessions, home matches, etc.) are entered first, and all remaining sessions are each covered by a family on a rota basis. Thus, the Club has adult supervision every weekday evening, as well as morning, afternoon and evening sessions on Saturdays and Sundays.

The responsibilities of Duty Rota Supervisors are laid down in the Club Rules. There is a folder in the Clubhouse (Pavilion) containing sheets which need to be completed and signed on each occasion. It is to be hoped that no family will miss its duty and leave children unattended and vulnerable outside the Club. It is usually glaringly obvious when someone fails to turn up.

A personally named Duty Rota for each family is posted in the pigeon holes to the right of the main notice board in the Clubhouse at least a week before it comes into effect. The large copy on the main notice board is for people who need to swap duties to record the exchange. Clicking a link in the red oval will take you to a current or imminent Rota. No exchanges will be shown on this site.
