End of Season Play-Offs (Challenges)

At the end of the final period of the year, the divisions are arranged in resolved order with no promotions and demotions. However, the top player in all divisions except the first may elect to challenge the bottom player of the division above, with one circumstance excepted which is noted below. This challenge match must be played within the time allocated by the League Organiser, and if the challenge is successful or refused the players swap positions in the League.

Any player who comes top of a division in which no matches are played in the final period forfeits the right to challenge.

Trophies and Prizes

After the League has been fully completed, the top player in the first division shall be declared “The Champion” at a suitable ceremony, and hold the appropriate Summerway perpetual trophy for a year. The Champion shall accept the total responsibility for having the appropriate year and name engraved on the trophy before returning it, in good time and in good order, for the following year’s Champion to receive at the next appointed League presentation ceremony. If the League is not in operation for any year, the trophy must be returned at the end of that season to the Management Committee for safe keeping until the League resumes.

There are two other perpetual trophies which shall be awarded to the highest placed boy and the highest placed girl in the League, excluding the Champion. These will be known as the Best Boy and Best Girl awards, and the rules governing these trophies are the same as those for the Champion’s trophy.

In addition to these trophies, the Summerway Committee will award a number of small prizes for various aspects of League participation and achievement, to be presented at the same ceremony.
