Serving Rounders (cont.)

Þ

Serving follows all the Rules of Tennis for starting a point, including an extra attempt for each Let.

Þ

Players queue at the second mark of a base while awaiting their turn.

Þ

On the instruction Play, the player at the first mark has fifteen seconds to make either a good first or second serve.

Þ

After the instruction Stop, no player may strike a ball. Any ball struck after Stop is called is regarded as a fault.

Þ

On the instruction Move, and not before, the player moves one base to the right (anticlockwise) following a good serve, or to the left (clockwise) otherwise, and touches the third mark of that base with the racquet before joining the queue at its corresponding second mark. If two players join a queue on the same point, the first one touching its third mark is before the other in the queue.

Þ

Any player in a queue who deliberately or accidentally obstructs a player attempting to touch a third mark moves immediately one base to the left (clockwise) as a penalty.

Þ

A player moving to a vacant base may only play the next point providing the third mark has been touched and the second mark passed before Get Ready is called.

Þ

Concurrently on the instruction Move, the player at the head of the queue at each second mark moves to the first mark and prepares to serve, waiting for the instruction Play.

Þ

The overall length of the game is determined by a finishing time. The referee has discretion to pause the game between the Stop and Play instructions.
